Technically, the tool adds your chosen quarter-turns to each page's existing rotation setting and saves it into the page dictionary of the PDF itself. Are odd angles like 45 degrees supported?
No — rotation moves in quarter turns of 90 degrees, which covers every legitimate reading orientation: sideways, upside down, and back to normal. Repeated clicks accumulate, so clicking clockwise twice equals 180 degrees, and four clicks return a page to where it started. Slight crookedness within a page, such as a tilted scan, is a deskewing problem rather than a rotation problem and is out of scope here.
Does rotating affect image quality or file size?
No. Rotation records a viewing angle in the page's metadata rather than transforming any actual content, so text, images, and vectors are byte-for-byte unchanged and the output file size stays essentially identical. Because the setting lives in the standard PDF page definition, every mainstream viewer and printer applies it consistently — nothing depends on the app you open the result in.
Why did my PDF fail to load in the rotate tool?
Password-protected documents are the usual culprit: the tool cannot render previews for encrypted pages and will alert you instead of showing a broken grid. Open the file wherever you normally enter its password, save an unprotected copy, and load that here.
